Welcome back to another article. Hope you are having a blessed wonderful day. Here we are, a week from Christmas, and I don’t know about you, but I have not been in the holiday season this year. I actually have not been into the holidays for the last 5 years, and I think that had a lot to do with where I worked and how much that took out of me. I worked at a country club and the month of December was chaotic with Christmas parties back to back. Everyone would be so festive but I couldn’t wait for the month to be over. I loved the attitude that most people had and it was very profitable to be around such happy people, but I developed a ‘bah humbug’ spirit that is even more relevant today. This year, being like it has, has not helped my holiday attitude. Even now that we have moved and are by my family, there are no Christmas lights, or a tree, and none of us are too excited for the 25th. day that is approaching.

There is also the colder weather to deal with throughout this season. My husband and I did move South to Texas so it is not as cold as when we were in Kansas, but the mornings are still chilly and we have had frost and cold hands and feet to try to warm. One very cold morning, I grabbed my laptop and big blanket, and sat on the couch and let the recliner out to wrap the blanket around my feet and legs to take some of the chill away. We also have 3 cats, that let us live with them, so they also get cold and either sit by the heater or curl up to stay warm. After I grabbed the blanket, our smallest cat immediately jumped up on my legs and nestled his body into the blanket to warm himself. My legs were also cold and after a minute or two, I started to feel his warmth on my legs, which meant he was also getting warmth. I realized in that moment, that what might have appeared as a selfish act, actually benefited both of us. He was getting warm while I was getting warmth from him. He started purring and we both relaxed and warmed up together.

He is just a cat, of course, so he is driven by self preservation. He didn’t realize that what he did was also for me. For people, if all our acts were of kindness and helping others, we would be blessed in the process. If we do things with the idea this will help someone else out, then we in turn will get helped. It’s only natural because that’s how God set it up. We will see God’s blessings on our lives when we give to others. I am realizing this even with my lack of Christmas spirit. Christmas is about the birth of Jesus, and how God gave us His only begotten Son to save the world. I may not be into this season, but that does not mean I can’t share the joy of what this season is really about. I am a child of God, given an amazing gift of salvation, so I should share and bless others as much as I have been blessed. I will also receive such blessings from seeing others blessed. Scripture to back that up is in Matthew 7:12 which reads, ‘Therefore all things whatsoever ye would that men do to you: do ye even to them: for this is the law and the prophets.’

God Bless You, Krisha Hall 12/20/20

Time After Time

Greetings, Shalom, Bonjour, or Guten Tag…. whatever language you speak, pray this finds you doing well! Here I am again with another article. I am writing this the week before Christmas 2020, and as the entire world knows, this has been one of the craziest years for everyone. I don’t think with all the events that have happened over our history, that anyone could have guessed what 2020 was going […]
