Father, Son & Holy Ghost

Hey there! Here I am again with another article and I hope with this one, there will be a lot of feedback and suggestions on how to deal with this topic. This article deals with doing things in the name of the Father, Son and Holy Ghost. For some, there is no question about the subject, but if you read my previous article, you know my up-bringing tends to shadow a lot of my beliefs and I still have issues with my family. I was brought up United Pentecostal, which is really a whole other way of living. I was taught to believe we were the only ones who really had the answer on how to live and interpret the scriptures. Anytime I would talk to friends at school or anyone outside of my religion, I would end up pointing my finger at them and telling them how wrong they were to believe what they did. This subject was a big one I tried to debate many people on and no matter scripture others would give me, I was always going to be right, and them wrong. I look back now and I am ashamed how many people I talked to and ruined my witness for Jesus because I wanted to argue semantics.

So, by the title, you know this is about the Father, Son and Holy Ghost and as there are many scriptures on the subject, my United Pentecostal family believes it doesn’t count unless you say “in the name of Jesus.” Both are referenced in the Bible, doing things in ‘Jesus name and doing things in the name of the Father, Son and Holy Ghost. My family believes that if you are using the Trinity for baptism or prayer, you somehow are doing it wrong and not completing the prayer. I was taught that there is absolutely no difference between the three and the Trinity was more of a Catholic belief. That now that makes no sense because of course there are differences. God is omnipresent, and He robed himself in flesh to come to Earth. He gave His only begotten Son to die for our sins. How do you give your son if it’s you? Jesus did reference I and My Father are one but I believe He was saying I am doing my Father’s work and have His will in mind. Also, the Holy Ghost was sent to be the Great Comforter as God is in Heaven preparing us a place. We are filled with the Holy Ghost when we except salvation, which gives us the connection to God. Also, if they were all the same, why is Jesus sitting at the right hand of the Father? Why not take your place as the head, unless they clearly are three different entities.

Now, as I look back at what I was taught in that religion, I am thankful I am not under that authority or thought process anymore and I can interpret the scriptures on my own through prayer. There are so many scriptures that reference Father, Son and Holy Ghost and to tell anyone they are wrong to pray or baptize in the Trinity is judgmental and by that same measure, you will be judged. I have had recent discussions about this with one or two of my family members, who are still Pentecostal, and even with scripture to clarify either would be acceptable, it’s hard for them to think any different when you have believed a certain way for so long. This is where I ask for your help or advice as how to talk to my family about this. I believe their judgment could be a stumbling block and we should have nothing in the way of our salvation. Rather, we pray in the name of ‘Jesus or in the name of the Father, Son and Holy Ghost, the important thing is we pray. I believe God will hear us, if we come before Him with a pure and honest heart. Thank you for reading this, and please, let me know what you think and feel about this subject. The one thing I have learned through my life is there are no wrong or right answers, except believe, and everything else will fall into place.

God Bless You, Krisha Hall 11/1/2020

Do You Have To Speak In Tongues For Heaven?

Hello to All! This is my first article I am writing and I hope to be able to share some things I have learned and learn from others on their personal experiences and knowledge of their Christian walk and faith. So, a little about me… I am 42 years old and I am a Christian. How I was raised, many would disagree and say I was a sinner far from […]
